My 20’s

I plan to graduate from USF at the age of 21 with a major in accounting and a minor in finance. I want to continue my education and get an MBA by the age of 23. I’d like to work my way up in a corporation as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant). By this time I’m hoping we as a society will have found a substitute for oil so I can stop paying so much just to fill up my tank. I expect that when Florida gets a new governor, hopefully the high speed rail from Tampa, Orlando, and Miami will be built.

After establishing a well-paying job, I’d like to start a family in my late 20’s. By this time I hope that our economy will be out of this slump. As to where I think I’ll be, I’m not sure. I may just go back home to Orlando or move to a slightly bigger city.

Of course all this is assuming that the world doesn’t end in 2012.

News Article

This article discusses the possibility of a new source of oil here in the United States. It’s possible that a tar-like soil found in the lands of Utah may be able to work as oil. Alberta-based Earth Energy Resources Inc. is supposed to start a project covering about 62 acres that will take 7 years and may spread to cover about 7800 acres which could be the equivalent of 250 million barrels of oil.

This could be a giant step for the United States because the federal government wants to reduce the amount we spend on foreign supplies, one of those being oil which costs about $100 a barrel. This could also help improve our economy which has been suffering for almost a decade now. But of course out of every good, comes a bad. This project means destroying the environment and habitats of many animals who live in Utah such as elks, bears, and bison. This could endanger several species or even force them to be closer to the human population, making it more dangerous for surrounding neighborhoods.

Depending on your perspective, this could be very good for the American people or terrible for the poor animals who inhabit the lands of Utah. I love animals so I don’t like the thought of destroying their homes at all, but that never stopped anyone from deforestation and other harmful activities to the environment.

Technology Tip

Do you hate texting on touch phones because you always hit the wrong letter? Well theres an app for Android phones (i don’t know if iPhones have it) called Slide It that lets you type full words without picking up your finger once. Just click the letter the word starts with and “slide” your finger to each letter to spell out the word. You finish by picking up your finger from the last letter and the app automatically knows what you were trying to spell and if its primary choice is wrong then it gives you a list of other words you could have had in mind. It’s a quicker and less frustrating way of texting.
